The McKenzie Law Firm, P.C., has created a $2,500 scholarship for the student who develops the best PSA for teenagers about the dangers of drinking and driving. Our Teen Drinking and Driving Prevention PSA Scholarship will be awarded to the essay winner. The final deadline for applying for the scholarship is June 15, 2023.
About the Teen Drinking and Driving Prevention PSA Scholarship
At McKenzie Law Firm, P.C., we have unfortunately seen the devastating effects of accidents when a teen driver consumes alcohol before driving. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as many as 2.4 million teenagers in high school drive after drinking each month. Additionally, one in five teenage drivers who were involved in a fatal auto accident had some amount of alcohol in their bloodstream.
On the plus side, the number of teenagers who say they engage in drinking and driving is about half what it was three decades ago. This shows that informative campaigns about the dangers of teenage drinking and driving are effective. Through our scholarship, we hope to add to the work being done to help teenagers learn why they should not drink and drive.
Eligibility for McKenzie Law Firm, P.C., Drunken Driving Prevention Scholarship
To be eligible for receiving our Teen Drinking and Driving Prevention PSA Scholarship, students must follow a few rules:
- Must be currently enrolled in or have been accepted to an accredited university or college
- Submit an essay on the topic of at least 1,000 words
- Complete the application form listed on this page
- Agree to the terms and conditions regarding the awarding of the scholarship
- Have a GPA of 3.0 or greater, verified through an unofficial transcript from the student’s current school
- Be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident
- Must be currently enrolled in or have been accepted to an accredited university or college or graduate school
Topic of Essay for McKenzie Law Firm, P.C., Scholarship
In the essay, the student should focus on why he or she believes some teenagers continue to drink and drive, even though they are aware of the dangers of this type of reckless behavior. The essay also should explain ideas the student has to help alleviate the situation. This essay must be at least 1,000 words.

- Past recipients of the Teen Drinking and Driving Prevention PSA Scholarship
- Applicants who are unable/unwilling to be interviewed by a representative of David McKenzie Law Firm, P.C. if he/she were to be awarded the scholarship.
